Even for vinyl gutters liquid detergent alone cannot be used to clean the gutters properly. Gutter cleaner removes black streaks dirt mildew stains and more. The contaminants will attach to the gutter oxidation in another process called electrostatic bonding and over time will cause those unwanted black streaks. Rinse with water and if necessary reapply the chemical to remaining stains and brush again.

The best thing i have found so for is called streak b gone by astro which is a streak remover used on campers and rvs it may take a couple of tries to remove it as gutter streaks are one of the hardest things to get rid of i usually spray it on a dry gutter and let it sit for a few minutes and wipe with a wet cloth add a dish soap to the water if it is really bad you may have to use a green scrub pad to help remove it. If your household water pressure isn t enough to generate the proper nozzle pressure at the jets the manufacturer recommends boosting it. The warmer it is outside the better it works. Ready to use formula makes cleaning gutters easy with a simple spray on wipe off application.

Brush the gutter with a stiff bristle brush. Set up a ladder at one end of the gutter and fascia where the black streaks are located. The black streaks are a result of electrostatic bonding of tar asphalt from roofing material and other debris to aluminum metal material. Move down the entire gutter and spray all of the spots with black streaks.

Climb up the ladder and spray the black streaks with gutter cleaner. I usually use it around 10 1 and have no problems getting the black streaks off. Specially formulated to remove tough soils from exterior metal vinyl plastic and aluminum surfaces. I haven t used it for anything else though.

Wet the gutter with a garden hose after pre wetting the area. On stubborn streaks let the chemical dwell longer being careful not to let it dry. I had to use it at full concentration one time. The gutters were over 30 years old with heavy oxidation and were never cleaned.
